Privacy

Effective 2026-10-16.

Northclerk runs an automated front desk that answers a business's customers by email, books appointments and sends the business a daily summary. Website chat and texting are not switched on yet. This page says what we collect, why, and who sees it.

This website

This site sets no cookies and runs no trackers. The demo runs in your browser, and nothing you type into it is sent anywhere. Our web host (GitHub, Inc.) receives visitors' IP addresses and may log them for security. If you use the Get started button, your email app sends us what you typed (business name, trade, ZIP code, email and phone). It reaches our inbox, and we keep it to reply and to set up your account.

Businesses that use Northclerk

When a business signs up, we collect what it sends us to set up its front desk: business name, contact name, email address, phone number, services and prices, hours, service area and booking rules. We use it only to run that business's front desk and to email the owner about the account.

People who contact a business that uses Northclerk

When you email a business that uses Northclerk, or text it once texting is connected, we receive what you send: your name, phone number, address, the job you describe and your messages. We use it only to answer you, book or change your appointment, and tell that business about your request. The business you contacted sees your messages and bookings.

Text messages

Northclerk does not send text messages yet.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All the categories above exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

Who else handles the data

We use these service providers to run Northclerk: Google (Gmail and Google Calendar), GitHub, Inc. (website hosting), PayPal (payments) and Anthropic (the AI model that reads messages and drafts replies). Each of them handles data under its own terms and privacy policy. We share only what is needed to run the front desk. We do not sell personal information.

How long we keep it

We keep conversation and booking records while the business uses Northclerk, and delete them within 90 days after it leaves, unless the law requires us to keep them longer.
